"Vishwambhara" is an eagerly anticipated Indian Telugu-language fantasy action film starring the legendary actor Chiranjeevi. Directed by Mallidi Vassishta and produced by UV Creations, the film also features Trisha, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Ashika Ranganath, Isha Chawla, Surbhi Puranik, and Kunal Kapoor in significant roles. The project, initially referred to as "Mega 156," was officially announced on August 22, 2023, coinciding with Chiranjeevi's birthday. A formal launch ceremony took place on October 23, 2023, in Hyderabad, marking the commencement of this ambitious venture.
"Vishwambhara" is touted to be a socio-fantasy drama with themes derived from Hindu mythology. The film's first-look poster, released on August 22, 2024, showcases Chiranjeevi wielding a trident imbued with special powers, standing before a majestic hill, hinting at the film's mythological undertones.
The production design is notably elaborate, with thirteen distinct sets constructed at Hyderabad's Annapurna Studios under the supervision of production designer A. S. Prakash. Approximately 70% of the film is expected to incorporate visual effects to authentically portray its spiritual elements. Filming commenced in late 2023, with Chiranjeevi joining the sets in early February 2024. A significant action sequence, reportedly the longest Chiranjeevi has undertaken in his career, was completed over twenty-six days in April 2024.
The film's music is composed by M. M. Keeravani, enhancing the narrative's grandeur. The teaser, released on October 12, 2024, during Vijayadashami, offers a glimpse into the mythical world of "Vishwambhara," portraying Chiranjeevi as a prophesied legend awaited by the land and its people. Initially slated for a January 10, 2025 release, the film's premiere has been rescheduled to coincide with Makar Sankranti 2025, aligning with the festive season to maximize audience engagement.
