The romantic comedy-drama Kal Ho Naa Ho was released in Hindi in 2003. It was written by Karan Johar with dialogue by Niranjan Iyengar, and it was directed by Nikhil Advani. Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Preity Zinta all appear in the movie. In the movie, Aman Mathur, played by Shah Rukh Khan, and Naina Catherine Kapur, played by Preity Zinta, fall in love. However, because of a secret, Aman is unable to confess his emotions to Naina, which leads to a scheme to match Naina up with her closest friend, Rohit Patel, portrayed by Saif Ali Khan.
