“Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey”
Movie Review
Rhys Frake-Waterfield is the author, director, and producer of
Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey. The movie, which stars Craig David Dowsett as
Winnie-the-Pooh and Chris Cordell as Piglet, is a horror adaptation of the
Winnie-the-Pooh books by A. A. Milne and E. H. Shepard. Amber Doig-Thorne,
Nikolai Leon, Maria Taylor, Natasha Rose Mills, and Danielle Ronald also appear
in supporting parts. In it, Christopher Robin, an adult, comes to the Hundred
Acre Wood many years after going for college and is terrorized by Pooh and
Piglet, who have since turned into ferocious and murderous murderers.
Long years ago, a young Christopher Robin made friends with a
group of anthropomorphic animals in the Hundred Acre Wood, including
Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Rabbit, and Owl. But as he got older,
Christopher went off to college and abandoned them. Pooh, Piglet, Rabbit, and
Owl plunged into terrible famine without Christopher to feed them or provide
advice, and when winter set in, they killed and ate Eeyore. This traumatized the
group to the extent that they developed a loathing for anything human-related,
as well as Christopher for leaving them. The gang agreed to give up their
humanity and revert to their animal instincts. They also agreed to never talk
again.
Five years later, Christopher, now an adult, goes back to the
Hundred Acre Wood with his fiancee Mary to visit his old companions, only to
discover that it has been left in a forlorn state. Christopher continues his
investigation despite Mary's warnings to leave and is startled by Piglet, who
uses a chain to garrote Mary to death. Christopher is horrified and tries to
flee, but Pooh and Piglet catch up to him and bring him back into the woods.
Later, Maria, Jess, Alice, Zoe, and Lara, a group of college
students, rent a cabin in the Hundred Acre Wood at the advice of Maria's
therapist to help her recover from a horrific stalker incident. Another one of
Maria's friends, Tina, gets lost while traveling to the cottage. Pooh follows
her into a closed-down factory where he grinds her with a woodchipper.
Eventually, Christopher is imprisoned by Pooh in his treehouse while he
viciously whips him with Eeyore's broken tail. In revenge for leaving his
erstwhile pals to fend for themselves, Christopher notices Mary's corpse in the
corner of the room, and Pooh douses him with Mary's blood.
Pooh and Piglet locate the cabin as dusk falls and abduct Lara
while she unwinds in a hot tub. Pooh slowly rams a car into Lara's head,
breaking her skull, as Piglet gags her. As Maria and Jess hear the noise and
discover Lara's body, they quickly return to the cabin to alert Alice and Zoe.
Pooh attacks the females, separating them. Piglet enters, knocks Alice out
cold, and then sledgehammers Zoe to death. As Pooh and Piglet kidnap Alice,
Maria and Jess decide to pursue them into the woods to save her.
Maria and Jess release Alice, Christopher, and another hostage
named Charlene in Pooh's treehouse; Charlene's husband Scott had already been
killed by Piglet. Charlene summoned Piglet to kill him in retaliation, but Pooh
restrains her, and Piglet mutilates her to death. Pooh pursues Maria and Jess
into the woods, but Alice remains behind to use his own sledgehammer to beat a
defenseless Piglet. When Pooh returns to the treehouse after hearing Piglet
scream, he discovers that he has already passed away. Pooh is furious and
approaches Alice with a knife. He then fatally impales her to a wall through
her open lips.
Running to the road, Maria and Jess flag down a car driven by
four neighborhood males, Logan, Tucker, John, and Colt, to request assistance.
The men try to kill him, but Pooh kills them all easily, one by one, until
Maria tries to run him over with the car. Maria collides with a tree and loses
consciousness as Pooh gets in the car. She sees Pooh behead Jess when she
awakens. Pooh tries to kill Maria, but Christopher drives up in another car and
appears to smash him between the two.
Maria is being helped by Christopher, but Pooh, who has
survived, catches up to him and seizes Maria, holding her at knifepoint.
Christopher begs Pooh to spare her and promises to live out the rest of his
days with him in the Hundred Acre Wood. Pooh lowers his knife gradually, but he
breaks his quiet pledge by saying to Christopher, "You left," just
before slitting Maria's throat. Pooh continues to stab the corpse as
Christopher escapes after realizing he can no longer save Maria as she slowly
bleeds to death.
