“The Exorcist”

Movie Review.

An American supernatural horror movie “The Exorcist” is directed by William Friedkin and written for the screen by William Peter Blatty, based on his novel of the same name released in 1973. Starring Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow, Lee J. Starring Cobb, Kitty Wynn, Jack McQuarren, Jason Miller and Linda Blair. It follows a young woman's demonic possession and her mother's attempt to save her through an exorcism performed by a pair of Catholic priests.

The film is set in northern Iraq, where Catholic priest Lancaster Merrin participates in an archaeological dig where he discovers a medallion of St. Joseph and an artifact representing the ancient demon Pazuzu. As Merrin prepares to leave Iraq, he encounters a giant Pazuzu statue and observes two dogs fighting in the desert.

At Georgetown, actress Chris McNeil is working on a film directed by her friend Burke Dennings. Throughout filming, Chris lives in a well-furnished house with her servants and daughter Regan. Georgetown-based priest Damian Karras visits his elderly Greek immigrant mother in New York. He told a colleague that he felt inadequate as a counselor to other priests, citing a crisis of faith. Chris hears voices upstairs and Reagan tells her about an imaginary friend named "Captain Howdy". In the local church, a statue of Mary is found desecrated.
