“Living”

Movie Review

Living is a British drama film directed by Oliver Hermanus from a screenplay by Kazuo Ishiguro, inspired by the 1886 Russian novel 'The Death of Ivan Ilyich' by Leo Tolstoy. Set in London in 1953, it depicts an officer, played by Bill Nighy, facing a terminal illness. Living is an exciting drama that explores what it is to be human and what it takes to live life to its fullest. Bill Nighy's Mr. Williams is a man stuck in his ways; He likes to keep things in a certain order and falls into the trap of bureaucracy, which makes him look like a shell. His goofy and sullen demeanor is a stark contrast to Peter Wakeling, played by Alex Sharp who is new to the office and his confidence is quickly shattered after his first day. When Mr.Williams got the news that he had only months to live, he decided how to live a full life. The only problem is, he doesn't remember how to do it. Aimee Lou Wood as Margaret Harris, an assistant who previously worked with him and became his friend, and with the help of her, Mr. Williams tries to live out the rest of his days doing worthwhile things.
