“Decision to Leave”, is a South Korean neo-noir romantic mystery film produced and co-written by Park San-wook, about a mysterious widow who follows a detective after she becomes the prime suspect in his latest murder investigation. Decision to Leave, is a slow burn that requires patience, but the payoff is very rewarding. Director Park Chan-wook weaves together a crime detective mystery and a sensual thriller that will leave audiences stunned at the end. The film is slow and takes on unnecessary baggage, but it is magnetic and well told. Both Tang Wei and Park Hae-il give captivating performances, the tension between their characters enhancing their wonderful chemistry.
After a man falls to his death from a cliff, detective Hae-joon, played by Park Hae-il, is called in to investigate what is believed to be a murder. The first suspect on the list is the man's widow, Seo-rae played by Tang Wei, who Hae-joon believes killed her husband. However, married Hae-joon's investigation is complicated as he begins to develop feelings for Seo-rae, who as a nurse stalks patients, wanders into her house, and constantly brings her in for questioning. As the pair develop a passion for each other, Seo-rae becomes less suspicious.
