"CROOKED HOUSE"

Movie Review.

‘Crooked House’ is a 2017 mystery film directed by Gilles Paquette-Brenner, based on Agatha Christie's 1949 novel of the same name. The screenplay was written by Julian Fellowes, Tim Ross Price and the director himself. The film is produced by James Spring, Sally Wood and Joseph Abrams. Cinematography by Sebastian Wintero, editing by Peter Christelis, music by Hugo de Serre. Starring Starmax Irons, Terence Stamp, Glenn Close, Gillian Anderson, Stefanie Martini.

The film follows Sophia Leonides, granddaughter of the late Greek-British business magnate Aristide Leonides, as she meets private investigator Charles Hayward in his office. She wants Charles to investigate Aristide's death and suspects that a member of their extended and distinguished family killed him. Sophia notes that Aristide's regular insulin injections are contaminated with ezerine from eye drops that cause heart attacks. Sophia believes that this is not accidental, but intentional. Charles reluctantly accepts the suit. Taking advantage of his personal relationship with Taverner, who worked with Charles' father, Charles investigates the case with the permission of Taverner, a former Assistant Commissioner and Chief Inspector of Scotland Yard.
