Through “Compartment No. 6”, director Juho Kuosmanen trying to say that the train is one of cinema’s most powerful tools and if the tracks are a strip of film, the train runs across it as though moving through a projector. The locomotive, that engine of industry, of modernism, is the setting for this movie. A period piece set at the turn of the millennium, Juho has chosen the perfect way to visually represent a transitional Russia.
