Aliens kidnap Carl, a lumberjack working in Alaska, in
1979. A computer engineer called Isaac starts a video journal in the present
day after encountering an alien and a flying saucer while out on a hike in the
woods. He awakens three days later next to the water. He realizes he is
experiencing hallucinations. When he goes to the doctor, they find that his
bone was precisely sliced and broken. He recorded the kidnapping and posted it
online, where it quickly gained popularity. Isaac is questioned by the
government, the news, and the media. When a young woman Sara posted a message
online with a similar narrative, Isaac realized that strange traces of
extraterrestrial life throughout history proved the existence of aliens. The
two eventually met at a nearby diner.
When Isaac is requested to take a
lie detector test as evidence of the kidnapping, he succeeds, and Agent Graves'
Men in Black capture him as a result. Isaac refuses to participate in the
government's protocol once it is discovered that Sara and Isaac are carrying an
extraterrestrial tracker. Sara and Isaac manage to escape, but they are pursued
by androids. They discover a hacker named Zed who assists them and discloses
that he is aware of the United Nations organization responsible for the
kidnapping when they realize they have been transferred to Costa Rica. Zed
assists them in finding an old Carl, with whom they video chat. The group
learns that in five days the aliens will arrive in British Columbia.
In British Columbia, Zed, Sara, and Isaac discover Carl
residing in a cabin. The United Nations trackers are left with Carl for the
following two days after Carl turns them off. The aliens say they are
researching those who think that Jesus Christ was crucial in the formation of
the cosmos when they arrive in two days. As the men in black round the cabin,
they take Sara's tracker off. Agent Graves presses Carl for information on the
killing of his father; when Carl refuses, he is shot with laser weapons. Sara
exits the cabin and receives gunfire as well. As soon as the aliens take away
Isaac's tracker, he releases his telekinetic and cryokinetic abilities, which
he uses to save Zed, transport Sara, and Carl to safety, and escape while the
cabin is being destroyed. Sara and Carl are saved by the aliens, and the group
flies away in a flying saucer.
Isaac and Sara are already living a typical life in Costa
Rica six months later. Agent Graves has been let go, and Zed and Carl are now
in charge of a new science program.
